David Thorne

David Thorne Ph.D. MT (ASCP) received both graduate and undergraduate degrees from Wright State University in Dayton, Ohio. He joined the MSU Medical Technology Faculty in 1991. Research interests include factors controlling the viability of cold stored erythrocytes, development of assays to evaluate novel toxins and criteria used to establish allowable error for proficiency testing. Primary teaching responsibilities include instrumentation and clinical chemistry. Dr. Thorne is involved in the development of effective delivery system in the classroom and through distance learning modalities. He is also the director of the graduate programs in the unit. Dr. Thorne has been a certified Medical Technologist since 1981 and a registered clinical chemist (NRCC) since 1993. He is an active member of the American Association for Clinical Chemistry.
