Required:
Bachelor’s degree in a biological science, preferably in Medical Technology/Clinical Laboratory Science but related degrees may be considered eg. microbiology, histotechnology, cytogenetics
Preferred:
Enrolled in a master’s degree program in the Medical Technology Program
National certification as a medical laboratory professional eg. Clinical Laboratory Scientist/Medical Technologist; Cytotechnologist; Histotechnologist; Cytogenetic Technologist, etc.
Criteria for Progression to Level III Teaching Assistant
“A master’s degree or equivalent and at least four semesters’ experience as a teaching assistant (or equivalent experience at the faculty level) in the program or in a unit considered relevant by the director”
The following will be considered equivalent to a master’s degree:
30 semester hours of course work applicable to the master’s degree, acceptable progress toward degree completion which would typically include at least completion of one semester of MT 801, approval of the project/thesis proposal by the student’s guidance committee, and demonstrable progress on the master’s project or research as judged by the graduate director of the Medical Technology Program.
