I graduated from the Medical Technology program and Lyman Briggs School at Michigan State in December 2000. I then worked for six months at the American Red Cross, Great Lakes Region, in the manufacturing department, while I waited for my internship program to start in the fall of 2001 at Hines VA Hospital in Illinois. I spent eleven months at the VA before graduating the program and sitting for my ASCP and NCA certification exams in July 2002. I then returned back to the wonderful state of Michigan and the MSU community as I accepted a position at Sparrow Hospital. I am currently working the night shift in the General Laboratory at Sparrow where I enjoy the opportunity to use all of my skills that I learned both at MSU and the VA. Some people think that the night shift would be difficult, but I've done well with it and enjoy the variety of work. I am surrounded by many fellow MSU Alumni and am glad to have the opportunity to be back in the area. As I am just starting my career as a Med Tech I look forward to the opportunities and adventures that await me in the future and I thank MSU and the Med Tech program for giving me a great start to a bright future. I grew up in the Ann Arbor area and my initial interest in the Med Tech program came from "that other school" but MSU will always have my heart. Go Green, Go White!!! |
