After graduating from MSU in the fall of ’96, I entered the medical technology program at Loyola University Medical Center, School of Medical Technology in Maywood, IL. While there, I started work for Dr. Jawed Fareed (at the suggestion of Dr. Gerald Davis) in the Thrombosis and Hemostasis Research Laboratories. This experience cultivated my fascination with the study of platelets and coagulation proteins. This led to several publications and significant travel opportunities.

Upon completing the program at Loyola, I moved to San Diego to work at Scripps Research Institute for Dr. Richard Ye, investigating various G-Protein Coupled Receptors. During this time I became licensed as a California Clinical Laboratory Scientist. Dr. Ye’s lab was moving to the University of Illinois Chicago, I was invited to help set-up his new lab. Once accomplished, I returned to California in the spring of ’99 to start work with a small lab in Northern California that specialized in clinical coagulation studies. I started there as a bench technologist and eventually became vice president.

Currently, I am the founder/president and laboratory manager of Machaon Diagnostics, a specialized esoteric coagulation lab that performs testing for the healthcare and bioscience industries. Please feel free to visit us at www.MachaonDiagnostics.com. We are located in the San Francisco Bay Area.

I am involved in several local philanthropic and national scientific organizations. I am also on the board of a San Francisco-based charitable organization and participate on the Committee for Oakland Bioscience Development.
