How to apply to the CLS/DMS majors

The CLS/DMS major is a limited enrollment program because it incorporates a clinical laboratory practicum into the degree requirements. The number of available positions is limited by the positions available in the certified laboratories. Admission is competitive. Applicants must meet the following criteria for consideration:

  1. Have an overall grade-point-average of 2.50 or better (This includes courses taken at other institutions than MSU.)
  2. Have completed prerequisite courses that will allow the student to progress to clinical placement with the cohort admitted during the same year. If you have questions about whether you meet this requirement, make an appointment to see the CLS/DMS Clinical Coordinator for a review of your readiness to apply.

The CLS/DMS major has a rolling admission process. Though most applicants apply during spring semester of their sophomore year, applicantions can be accepted throughout the year if vacancies are available. Contact the Clinical Coordinator for more information.
